However, I call bullshyt on the "we can't identify the species". They probably had some entry level tech use the wrong DNA extraction method for canned fish product and when they got no DNA in their PCR, they threw up their hands.

That being said, their wholesale supplier probably fukked them. Subway would be dumb to knowingly use fraudulent ingredients. That is how the FDA shuts you down.

It's been known for a minute that fast food places will do anything and everything to cut corners and decrease the time it takes to get food out the door.

Prepackaged
Precooked
Canned
Frozen
Imitation meat
Etc etc.

Even if it means creating their own food on some science lab shyt, as long as that food can be prepared in 20 seconds and has a shelf life of infinity they don't care.
