Highway Patrol: Good Samaritan killed on I-485
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Good Samaritan was killed after he stopped to help a motorist stranded with a flat tire, police say.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Alastair Teguiin saw a female driver of a silver BMW with a flat tire pulled over on the inner loop of 485 near Rocky River Road. The man stopped about 100 feet ahead of the woman’s car and began to walk back to her vehicle when he was struck by a white van.
Officials said that the man was wearing dark clothing and that the driver of the van tested negative for alcohol via breathalyzer.
State troopers said that the District Attorney will determine if any charges are delivered against the van driver following a blood test.
