In baseball and football, the conferences always tried to push their independence. Although they got rid of their faux commissioners and stuff it’s still there like in baseball where they have different league prizes instead of for the whole league. While the nba tried to copy some of it with introducing mvps and titles during the 2000s

So winning the conf finals is still huge, but I don’t know about losing it. In any event it’s still bigger than not making it at all
