“iZombie” showrunner Rob Thomas is sinking his teeth into adaptation of the 1987 vampire film that starred Jason Patric, Corey Haim and Kiefer Sutherland

The CW is developing a TV series based on 1987 vampire film “The Lost Boys,” TheWrap has learned.

The adaptation will be written by “iZombie” showrunner Rob Thomas, who will also executive produce alongside Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley.

Hailing from Spondoolie Productions and Gulfstream Television in association with Warner Bros. Television, the re-imagining will seek to tell a story spanning 70 years, each season taking place in one decade.

Season 1 will be set in San Francisco during 1967.

The original film followed two brothers, played by Jason Patric and Corey Haim, who face off against a gang of vampires, led by Kiefer Sutherland, in Santa Carla, California.

The new project comes to the network after president Mark Pedowitz revealed in development projects including a “Friday the 13th” reboot and a post-apocalyptic take on “Little Women” were no longer being developed.

A series adaptation of Nicholas Sparks‘ “The Notebook,” however, is still being developed at The CW.
