I liked that shyt a lot when it came out...

I loved this joint back then. it's crazy that I'm just seeing the video in full for the very first time.
Two things stick out to me:
1. Lot of hip hop appropriation in here. The scratches, the video chicks, etc.
2. I'm too old to enjoy this song like I did in the past. Too non-threatening. Not bold in any way. Feels like department store music.
Real shyt is almost never ever popular for mass appeal. Mainstream requires significant dumbing down
