NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. -
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a Campti man in connection with the Domestic Abuse Battery and Cruelty to the Infirm, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.
About noon today, deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division responded to a battery upon a person in the 200 block of Lake Drive in Campti, La.
Deputies say upon their arrival, they spoke to the female complainant victim learning that her boyfriend, Rodney Davis, allegedly committed a battery on her by striking her in the eye causing a contusion on Monday and then again today.
Deputies learned the victim and boyfriend lived with his grandmother in the 100 block of Lebrum Street in Campti.
During the course of the investigation, deputies also learned that the suspect would allegedly use a belt to whip both the victim and 82-year-old grandmother with a belt on several occasions when the grandmother committed small mistakes inside the residence.
Deputies interviewed the victims, and collected statements which led to sufficient evidence and probable cause to arrest Davis who has been booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with Domestic Abuse Battery and Cruelty to the Infirm.
Sheriff Victor Jones Jr. says the abuse of the elderly in Natchitoches Parish will not be tolerated and it will be investigated thoroughly by the NPSO. Jones went on to says the elderly are normally helpless and it is law enforcement's and citizens' obligation to protect them from harm.
If you know the victim of abuse, please contact the NPSO at 318-352-6432.
The investigation is continuing.
Deputy Chris Beaudion made the arrest assisted by the NPSO Patrol Division.
