Love Island viewers have been left livid after the first episode of the 2022 series aired tonight.

As the gorgeous islanders were introduced to eagle-eyed viewers for the first time, Love Islandhost Laura Whitmore announced a massive twist which had never been seen before on the iconic ITV2 dating show.

In an unexpected turn of events, the Irish TV host told the excited islanders that for the first time ever, the public had decided who they would be coupling up with for the first week.

However, the new twist has caused huge debate on social media as Love Island viewers hit out at the 'racist' British public.

After Laura confirmed that Ikenna Ekwonna and Indiyah Polack had been paired together, as well as Dami Hope and Amber Beckford, viewers took to Twitter to slam the pairings.

“Good old racist Britain. Pairing of the two black men with the two black women," one fumed.

:sas2:

"I'm a bit behind on Love Island tonight but the coupling feels a tad racist," another shared.

Someone else fumed: "It feels racist that the public paired the black women and men together. Idk what ITV was thinking, nothing about this ‘twist’ was mildly interesting. Original way was better and more dramatic."

As the show continued, others hit out at the fact contestants Andrew and Luca chose Paige, Gemma, and Tasha as their 'top three' girls - leaving out Amber and Indiyah.

"All three white women being touted as desirable. Amber and Indiyah don’t exist," one viewer tweeted.

While another added: "What about Indiyah and Amber? They are stunning. The British public strikes again."

Elsewhere, others thought the pairings were 'perfect'.

"I think both couples look so good together. It's nothing to do with race - they just look great together," one social media user suggested.

While another added: "I get why people are mad but they genuinely make good couples? Am I wrong? I don't see the issue."

“Justice” ? Interesting …. :mjpls:
