Try clearing your old texts, I remember that being the issues with my s5. I haven't had the slow down problem ever with my Note 4.

I use a app called DU Speed Booster. It puts a lil space ship icon in the corner of your screen and when you make it fly it clears up your RAM.

I got the g3 Im sure your ram not as bad as mine

Thats the issue here, Samsungs software aggressively kills tasks stored in RAM, causing apps to be reloaded every time you go back to them.
As opposed to taking full advantage of 3GB ram.
