we can't afford to take a break from politics right now. more than ever we need people active and mobilized.

a defeated attitude is exactly what the ruling class wants you to have. deciding to not fight against this shyt is cowardly
I wouldn't call it cowardly, breh. Things like this push people away from politics. The odds are ridiculously stacked against us if we want to make any changes by playing their game. I agree we need people to be active/mobilized but not necessarily in politics. Especially because the Democrats have taken the black vote for granted for years.

I'm just spit-balling here, but I'd rather see people doing what Kaep is doing: raising awareness while also being active in the community. Dude held a "know your rights" camp for kids the other day and I didn't even hear about it until I clicked on his IG page by accident. He had lawyers, fitness experts, and professors there to talk to kids about school, health, and their rights when it comes to the police.

It is what it is. :hubie:

This election pretty much showed what the country's future is looking like, and if you're not white (or even if you are but dislike the idea of fukking up the planet) then it's not looking good. Personally, I'm about to chill and catch up on some games/TV shows (I really need to finish Luke Cage) and focus on stacking. Be safe yall. Who knows what'll happen from this point out, if you live in a :mjpls: area I'd suggest watching your back.

This isn't an "I'm leaving" thread either, but I'll probably be posting more in The Arcadium/Film Room/etc than here for the foreseeable future. Anybody else losing interest?

Trumpset, best of luck, yall beat the odds. Whatever happens hopefully you remain happy with your decision. :salute:
I'm with you on this, breh. I lurk HL sometimes still, but I lost a lot of interest in politics during Obama's run. Seeing him face opposition over every little thing really turned me off the whole system, and I studied this shyt in undergrad.

For the last 8 years we've been bombarded with "racism is over, we've got a black president" and then an open bigot gets elected. I'm seeing thousands of people on Reddit defending this dude and saying he's not actually racist. That's who we're supposed to "come together" with? Even worse is seeing black people get blamed for this.

I work for an org that serves people who can't afford legal representation, and a lot of our clients are already terrified about what's gonna happen. We help people with public benefits, housing, immigration, etc., and some of our attorneys had to call a few of their clients today to calm them down. A lot of people will be somewhat sheltered from this dude's actions, except for those who are the most vulnerable.

What's crazier, five out of the seven counties that we serve voted for Trump, and I'll bet that many of those people were some of our clients (those counties are largely low-income and white). They voted for the party/candidate who won't hesitate to cut the benefits that they need to live.

Hell nah, you been cheerleading Trump this whole time and enabling his supporters, you're not getting away with that.

Anybody here will tell you I was never a Hillary stan, so dead that, but as far as I'm concerned you're honorary #Trumpset even if you didn't vote for him. :pacspit::pacspit::pacspit::pacspit::pacspit:

I never said you were a Hillary stan. Why I gotta get linked with #TrumpSet? I didn't vote for him. Yeah, I was cheerleading for a minute, then became rational.

You answered your own question. :upsetfavre:

I'm legit concerned that my people's rights could be in jeopardy over the next couple years since Trump has no real check or balance (GOP House, GOP Senate, GOP Supreme Court, mostly GOP governors, etc) and can basically do whatever he wants but keep thinking shyt's a game. Again, I voted for Bernie but as far as I'm concerned all that Trump cheerleading/irrational Hillary hatred pretty much makes you an honorary Trumpset member. So Hillary lost, you got what you wanted, have at it. :yeshrug:

Early on in the election I wanted something new, Trump was something new, I contemplated voting for him, then he jumped the shark, i switched my position. Now that he won AND the GOP has the power it has I think we'll see some radical changes and then radical backlash.

There are a lot of people who voted from Trump not because they are racist, or sexist or even that they supported him. Those people tend to be what most would consider decent. I know several people who just the day after voting for him knew they fukked up. I suspect there's quite a lot of people like that. If this fuker goes too crazy I suspect we can anticipate large scale unrest and revolution type actions, i HOPE for this to be honest. It's the only thing that will change this country the way it needs to be changed. Keep your head up, just remember, at the end of the day there were more americans who wanted trump to lose than there were americans who wanted trump to win. You, me, we are still the majority in this country.

I soon left that talk behind in late July. Got rational and voted Stein. However, I supported parts of Clinton's platform, but could not vote for her. You don't think I'm worried? Like I said, we gotta put that shyt behind. We need to protect our hoods, volunteer, and run for local and state offices. Being done won't make the issue go away :snoop:

I didn't like what she and her husband did to the Haitians in Haiti.

P.S. I voted for Bernie too in the Virginia primary AND DONATED to him 35$

True that.. politics is no longer optional, and it cannot be separated from culture and economics
