...with even mildly competent drafting.

Let's examine their 2010-2011 roster; if you'll recall, this was the season that they upset the Spurs in Round 1 and choked away the OKC series. Just marvel at the collection of talent (depth, really) they still somehow managed to put together that season in spite of truly pisspoor top-end drafting--in a small market, no less:

'10-'11 Depth Chart:
PG: Conley/Greives Vasquez
SG: Tony Allen/OJ Mayo
SF: Rudy Gay/Shane Battier/Sam Young
PF: ZBo/Darrell Arthur/DeMarre Carroll
C: Marc Gasol/Leon Powe/Hamed Haddadi..../Hasheem Thabeet :mjlol:

Draft Mishaps:

2008: The infamous Mayo/Love swap :shaq2:
2009: One spot away from Blake Griffin... :snoop: one spot away from Taj Gibson... :snoop:... taking Thabeet instead of a litany of good players still on the board...:huhldup::huhldup:

2010: Taking Xavier Henry 12th overall with the next three picks being Ed Davis, Patrick Patterson, and Larry Sanders... passing on Bledsoe and Avery Bradley when they could have used more cheap wing defenders to replace an aging Tony Allen and Shane Battier...
:snoop:
:snoop:
:snoop:
:snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop: (although they did snag Vasquez in the 2nd round:whoa:)

2011: No 1st rounder, as they traded it away for Ronnie Brewer :dahell:, aka Avery Bradley for three times the cost (who was available at that point in the draft). 2nd rounder Josh Selby... :manny: nobody left by that point anyway.

2012: Tony Wroten 25th overall :yeshrug:. Top-heavy draft class.

2013: :trash: class all around.

2014: 22nd overall pick Jordan Adams sent to D-League, with fellow 2-guard KJ McDaniels still on the board... :beli: :patrice: :what: :leostare:

Now I want to see the Grizz succeed as much as the next guy and I hope their current pace continues, but in all reality, this team may have already peaked in terms of its postseason play. Their key guys are all older, and they don't have the same level of depth as earlier this decade.

Shame to think they could have easily built and maintained a juggernaut that would most definitely contend for the entire 2010s... :mjcry:
