I've watched a lot of wrestling and I've never ever been as hyped as this promo for season 2 got me:

Brock Lesnar's weak ass debut had NOTHING on Matanza's debut:

And this is the GOAT conclusion to any angle in wrestling EVER:

Your childhood memories of HBK can suck my dikk. Oh, you attended ECW shows in Philadelphia in 95? Suck my dikk. You traded Puroreso tapes with the smartest of smarks? Meltzer says you suck five dikks. Lucha Underground was the best wrestling thing that ever happened or ever will. Cero pinche Miedo.

LU doesn't get enough props for its booking. Every feud had a good story and a definitive ending to it, history between characters always mattered in random and not-so-random encounters and the matches themselves always featured a lot of in-ring psychology and storytelling.

A great example of this was them writing certain wrestlers out of the Aztec Warfare that Matanza debuted in, so they were protected from his onslaught and they could build proper feuds with him.

They really thought shyt through.

Show was fire, it says a lot when a show like that gets canceled but WWE can put out garbage for a fukking decade and get rewarded with a couple of billion dollar contracts. It's not right brehs. :mjcry:

I believe in karma tho, I can't wait until cokeboy's heart explodes from decades of steroid abuse and the cacs and c00ns spend the next several months crying about it. :ohlawd:

That's really the effect of them knowing going in that their seasons were going to last a specific amount of time, and filming all of it in advance.

So, shockingly, they actually wrote their wrestling TV show.........like a TV show :ohhh:

Until they start planning specific seasons, no other wrestling promotion will ever get storytelling done as consistently as LU did.

Show was great. It definitely benefited from being a TV show with wrestling instead of a wrestling TV show. Robert Rodriguez had a dope vision for it. I think there's still room for something in that vein to be on TV now.

I really liked the idea of Mexican culture being baked into the concept too. From the bands who played the show in, to the mythology - shyt just felt different. I also like the fact that they knew they wanted to do drama, so they got in actors to push the story along, rather than just putting that weight on wrestlers who might not be so hot when it comes to actually acting.

Things like that made it stand out among all the indie shows out at the time. Too bad the contracts basically fukked all the talent.

I've been hoping that House Of Glory does something similar with Black culture if/when they get to TV.

Remember how we both got banned because they thought I was you? Good times.
