Lupe stans always like to act as if Elzhi and Pharoahe Monch don't exist when they say Lupe's the best "and it's not even close"
He's been given a thousand times the platform they ever have and most of the nikkas who lose their minds over Lupe aren't really comparing him to elite level lyricists, but to other major label artists
Most Lupe stans are just nerds that are talking out the ass. Nobody outside those fringe internet dwellers could recite, or care to recite, a Lupe verse if their life depended on it. Lupe could make pig noises throughout a whole track and those lames would swear it's some culture shifting manna from Heaven. He's nowhere the level of an Elzhi or Monch or Black Thought or Nas or GZA or Jay. Disposable, pseudo intellectual nerd rap.

Elzhi is nice no doubt, but Lupe got him by a couple levels of depth and scope... conceptually he's shown flashes of going where Lupe can go, but I don't think he can make a body of work like Waves....Lupe if he wanted could master elzhi multi-laden style if he wanted
