Why would the Lakers front office even consider this? I thought the whole M.O. was they retain Kobe to keep TV ratings up for two years so they can milk that Time Warner contract while putting the pieces together for the rebuild. Do they think Rondo is going to be the foundational piece for the rebuild, or were people just giving Buss too much credit?

Having Rondo, Julius Randle and kobe fading may seem like a decent option for some free agents. We had to trade to get Kobe, Shaq signed. We won't totally rebuild by just drafting good players we gotta have something to offer. The other option is trying to lure Russy away from OKC but I don't think that will work.

No rondo is a 28 yo PG looking for max contract. And knowing our management, they might offer him just that
