Phil Jackson has been in touch with Mitch Kupchak on multiple occasions over the past few weeks to discuss the Los Angeles Lakers.
Jackson has taken on an informal role of consultant.
"Even though he doesn't have an official role with us, he's a consultant of sorts," said Kupchak.
"We discussed some things, me and Mitch in the past couple of weeks, bouncing things around," said Jackson.
The Lakers sought out Jackson's opinion and he said that there is no issue with Kupchak or Jim Buss.

Jackson and Kupchak have a great relationship despite Jackson being passed over for the Lakers job.

Phil on Jim Buss: “He traveled with the team in 2001 or 2002. Sometimes I'd leave him behind if he didn't make the plane on time."

Phil said he has no issues with Jim Buss but doesn't have much of a relationship with him either. "We've always had a casual relationship."

Phil not taking any jobs has made him essentially a Lakers consultant in the short-term and maybe something more long-term

Jeanie on Phil: "He's part of my life & part of my family. He's always in the Laker world no matter if he has an official position or not.”

You should have seen the smiles on the faces of Lakers players as Phil talked to them tonight. Even Kupchak was smiling.

Jackson sounded like a Lakers exec at one point: "I'm trying to find a way to bring the team back to prominence...

A month ago, Phil Jackson was all set to take on a front office role for the ‘new’ Seattle Supersonics franchise.
Of course, that didn’t work out as the Sacramento Kings, who were on the chopping block remained in California leaving Jackson, a thirteen-time NBA Champion out of work.
So what’s a lonely former coach to do? Return to his former stomping grounds, apparently.
While Jackson was very clear last week that he no longer wanted to coach in the NBA, a front office role is something that has intrigued him and he’s apparently found a role with his former Los Angeles Lakers.
And yall thought the LWO was gonna just die off?

The GOAT Coach is back with the GOAT franchise

#LWO get in here brehs and let's rejoice.
"The Feast" begins in less than 21 hours, Phil Jackson is back with the LWO, and D'Antoni will be soon gone forever from the Land Of The Champions
