Download snow leopard and move all the way up to Yosemite via the app store after the 10.6.8 update. Now you will be ready for El Capitan.

I hope you have at least 4GB of RAM.

I do...I just need to upgrade because I can't update iTunes...it says I need a 10.8 OS X to update to the latest iTunes. Just got the iPhone 6s

Yeah just go all the way up to Yosemite.

I would suggest installing an SSD, but I'm not sure you will be comfortable doing that.

Do I buy snow leopard from Apple.com?
Just download it from somewhere and burn it to a disc breh.

I wouldn't be caught dead buying an old ass OS like that to use ONCE, No Apple stores carry it anymore and will take at least a week to get to you.

This is what happened.

I knew I was getting the 6s today so last night I backed up my iPhone 5s via iTunes. I traded in my 5s to get the 6s and when I brought home the phone I plugged it into iTunes trying to restore my back up from last night.

iTunes says that I need to update in order for the 6s to read the phone. I couldn't upgrade the iTunes because it said I needed a 10.8 OS X

I have some very important pics and videos of my grandma who I visited in California last month. I can recover all the info once I install snow leopard and update iTunes???

I would assume that you could, but I wouldn't touch shyt unless you find a way to get those files onto at least a flash drive. @illadope or any iNerds, help this man.

Why didn't you just use iCloud? or email the pictures individually?
