People do not hate on Macklemore tho. They hate on the fact that they are trying to put him together with real hip hop, giving him grammys for best hip hop and shyt. Who decided his album was the best of 2013? It was clearly some mainstreem whitewashed bullshyt and it should not classified as hip hop. Maybe a wack as sub genre of hip hop

Macklemore can actually spit though. Vocally he's very good. Can control tempo and has multiple flows. Him winning over Kendrick is ridiculous though.

People think he's garbage because of subject matter, being overrated and overplayed by the mainstream, and the fact that he benefits from white privilege.

Say what you want about Macklemore but he rides for our cultural issues a lot more than the average rapper, he's a cool dude and his hits were cool at commercial nightclubs (IF you were drunk as fukk).

In his case, you can't can't hate the player you've got to hate them game

Real talk, I moved to Seattle in about '07 and dude was "underground" for quite some time. Dudes were like have you heard of Macklemore etc..Now, I'm not sure if he is/was a plant , but there was a time where he was an unknown rapper, working with local acts who were also trying to make a come up. I never listened to dude then and other than his commerical joints, I dont listen to him now.

Cant knock a dudes hustle however.

Macklemore is no different than Kanye. If Macklemore did a song called Jesus Walks you nikkaz would clown him so hard. Keep it a bundle.
Nikkaz saying Kendrick should have won the Grammy but Macklemore had three #1 hits according to billboard, Kendrick did not. Macklemore broke records that Kendrick did not.

The problem is average white artists getting a bigger push than phenomenal black ones.

Cacs can't seem to find a way to play fair in the business end of things which creates distrust and hostility.

Macklemore was a nobody with creative freedom a budget and push beyond urban radio so why wouldn't nikkaz question his emergence and success?
