The act becomes the first duo in the chart's five-decade history to send its first two singles to No. 1. Plus, Florida Georgia Line's 'Cruise' sails back into the top 10

Among all artists, Macklemore & Lewis is the first act to send its first two charted Hot 100 singles to No. 1 since Lady Gaga arrived with "Just Dance" (three weeks on top) and "Poker Face" (one) in 2009. Bruno Mars, meanwhile, ruled with his first two entries as a lead act ("Just the Way You Are," "Grenade") in 2010-11 after he'd spent two weeks at No. 1 in his first visit as a featured artist on B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" and then peaked at No. 4 as a guest vocalist on Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" in 2010.

Rock & Roll all over again?

Also, although Em is talented, there is no way people weren't buying everything he put out just because he was white.

I remember seeing middle-aged white guys wearing shady tees :patrice:

My question is. If white people are buying this type of shyt. What does that mean for us blacks? Is it that nobody buying our shyt anymore?

Black ppl need to start putting money in our culture again before we lose our buying power :lupe:

How this random white guy push more records indie than Rick Ross :mindblown:

Come on brehs, think about it. This guy basically took the hip hop concept and told a story white customers can relate to. Gangster rap is dead, the market is wide open, and the country is 70% white. I can't relate to the music, but hearing it I can see why it's palatable to whites, knowing whites somewhat. This is very logical progression, not really shocking.

lol i find this forums reaction to macklemore hilarious.

for one,hes not moving timberlake units. and secondly, his success is flash in a pan. he got lucky with thrift shop and it exploded. if this single dropped before thrift shop you wouldnt see it go number one. i gaurantee his next album doesnt get much attention.

lol @ this being a big deal when em had back to back diamond albums.
