What's insane is that when you talk to these people.... you find out that their actual political beliefs align with socialist/progressive policies...but because they have built their entire identity about NOT being like "liberals" they are compelled to vote against their interests.
I agree that the bolded is absolutely the biggest part of it, but I think the instinct is to say something like, "The Democrats have not done an effective job putting an appealing face forward post-Obama that people see and are like I admire them, they're someone I want to be like," but then you think about the absolute ghouls of the Republicn party.
They lucked into Trump (thanks Obama... This is different discussion as it pertains to "liberal elitism."). He's lame fairly effeminate and catty. There's no real reason that Trump should represent the republican except for his biggest trait and that is his cruelty. Which is really at the core of any republican the desire to be cruel to others. Cruel for cruelness sake. Which is why so many of them vote against their own interest and why the Dems have been branded as the soft party.
Cruelty can easily be mistaken for strength by people that don't know any better. I don't think they're going to "soft" these people into voting for them. They need a counter presentation of strength and I would aregue that be based around the truth. Honesty. Calling a genocide a genocide. An articulation of the conditions of the average person and an idea about how to make their lives better. But the vast majority of the party is bought and paid for. I don't remember what my original point was I'm high as fukk
Have a good Thursday everyone
