the timing doesnt help him, but im also convinced the nfl is making an example out of garrett in case anyone is ever tempted to swing a helmet at someones head again so in their minds it means little for his case if it was said or not, it wouldnt have lessened his punishment but it would have likely added to mason's punishment. mason should have gotten at the very least a game to begin with for his role in escalating things.

Being totally unaware of the huge racial dymanic at play. I wouldnt be surprised if the team made Garret sign a gag order and not speak to the media about it directly becuae I dont recall him addressing the situation at all outside of the public appology.
