New TV Series Casts Maggie Q as a Pirate Queen
Another colorfully titled pirate show enters the fray.

Michael Bay's Black Sails may soon get some swashbuckling company on the small screen.
Maggie Q, who recently headlined The CW's Nikita, is about to transition from espionage to piracy in a new limited series titled Red Flag, reports
Deadline.
Red Flag will be set in the 19th century and star
Maggie Q as historical figure Ching Shih, a Chinese prostitute who became a veritable pirate queen. Ching Shih went on to lead the most successful crime syndicate in Chinese history, comprised of over 100,000 sailors and more than 1,500 vessels. She faced the Imperial Chinese navy, Portuguese navy and formidable British navy during her campaign to control the South China Sea and defeated them all.
Maggie Q is already experienced commanding spies. How about buccaneers?
Concerning the project, Maggie Q said, “It’s exciting to have the opportunity to share Ching Shih’s real-life story with audiences that are both familiar and unfamiliar with her prominent history.”
The project is currently being shopped to networks. Whoever ends up with the show, the rags-to-riches story and opportunity for plenty of action should make Red Flag an exciting prospect for television audiences.
