lyasah Shabazz, Qubilah Shabazz, Attallah Shabazz, Gamilah Lumumba Shabazz and Malaak Shabazz have all teamed up with the tech company Hingeto to create a clothing line that pays homage to their father’s legacy. The line, dubbed Malcolm X Legacy, features items that are inspired by the activist’s twelve principles which stressed the importance of human rights, education, economic independence, cultural pride, and justice. The collection features hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and will soon include artwork.

Honest question, am I overly cynical for looking at this with a critical eye? Is this the social activist version of Nas' daughter launching her own cosmetics line entitled Lipmatic? Beyond that, am I overly cynical for taking issue with the fact that civil rights pioneers can be used for fashion purposes? I'm glad it's the family, but at the same time I'm kinda critical of it as well because it is the family.
