Atherton man Andrew Welsh, 35, was discovered in a draw under the 16-year-old girl's bed when her mother unexpectedly came home early last July, the Mirror reports.
The court heard the mother noticed her daughter's lipstick was smudged and she had ruffled hair.
When she went to the girl’s upstairs bedroom where she found a man's boots near her daughter's bed, asking her daughter, "What are you doing? Who is here?"
At that moment she looked down and saw movement in the draw and her daughter confessed: "It's Mr Welsh".
The mother, who recognised the man from her daughter’s high school, notified police who arrested Welsh.
Before being caught, the teacher bombarded the teen with sexually explicit text messages including: "Have you heard about my maths lesson? We're going to find out if 35 goes into 16.”
Welsh, a father-of-one married to a local doctor, was found guilty after admitting to six counts of sexual activity with the child and has been put on the sex offenders registry for 10 years.
He was given a 14-month suspended jail term and ordered to complete 200 hours of community service.
