nah breh, i love my work week :blessed:. i love sitting here staring at all these screens for 10 hours a day and accomplishing zero :ahh:. i love commuting, waking up at 530am so i can take part in the cattle stampede onto the trains and subways :gladbron:. and the trip home is even better when the a/c doesn't work and it's 90 degrees and muggy out :whew:. i especially enjoy when there are delays, too. then i only get to see my kid for about 20 mins before she goes to bed :krs:. on saturdays and sunday i find myself lost in my longing to get back into it all again on monday morning. :lawd:

Damn breh, still looking for a new gig ? I know its been awhile now.

October makes 10 yrs for me at this gig. Getting tired of dealing with the same shyt over and over, day in and day out. It's fukking groundhogs days for me. The only reason I've stuck around is the benefits, the traveling (get to keep the mileage), and I basically do whatever the fukk I want, stroll in 30-45 min late, take long lunches, etc. It's tough for me to make a jump cause even though I deal with facilities/maintenance, I don't have a degree or any certifications. :ld:

Every single day and it's even worse in the summer. I live two blocks from the beach. I come to an office with no fukking windows and sit here for 8 hours. A couple of days ago I was done with all my work by 1:00pm and just got more and more pissed off thinking about how I could be at the beach instead slowly dying and rotting away in this fukking office. I hate it so fukking much and it is legit one of the reasons I drink. We were not meant to spend 5 days a week spent in an office staring at a fukking computer screen. I'm on the list for the FDNY and I have a great list number and I'm looking at going in sometime spring 2014 if all goes well and I stay in shape. But until then I'm stuck rotting away.

apr '14 is 10 years for me, too.

i've given up on making moves in the industry. i don't truly enjoy it and taking another job for 10% more pay but doing the same thing isn't going to make me happy at the end of the day. i'm focusing on trying to use the experience of building my house now to learn more about real estate development, that coupled w my connections in the construction industry, hoping to make a sorta transition right about the time they lay me off :mjpls:.

My job is like that. But its a JOB. Working for yourself has its challenge, but its rewarding. Find what you love doing in life, and you do well, and take it from there. Don't quit your job my nicca, TRUST ME. Companies pay you just enough to keep coming back, and do you blame them? I'm at 24.57 hourly, that's being honest. That's cool dough for a single nicca with no kids, no expenses. When you get a family, your going to need DOUBLE. I work for Comcast, been here 7 years, hate it. But I've cleaned up my credit, bought a house, my wiz is preggo, ALL of our expenses are covered via Kaiser. Where you work, take advantage of EVERYTHING they offer, but we all need an exit strategy. I got homies that I work with, one just passed his advance exam, getting 30.16 hourly. We are all looking for work ELSEWHERE. Trust me, you aren't alone.

Thought about it but I needed to make 5 years to qualify for a shytty pension and to have my 401k vested. I just recently got a freelance job making $50/hr but the hours will vary week to week. I switched to part time at my old job to keep the benefits. So I will be working 3 days guaranteed at my old job and whenever my new job has work. Thank god I don't have any debts and I was able to save a lot of money over the last 5 years.
