I feel you but after all the shyt they went through, they can’t say “we got a potential cure at hand here, but fukk it”. Giving up on humanity is more of an indictment on humanity than anything.

Evil folks didn't want a cure to be distributed... Ellie would've died for nothing and Joel (in this story because that's where the focus lies) would've had to live with losing two 'daughters'. It's still fukk him for being a murderous POS, but I likely would've made the same decisions
