People argue a lot about how good of a movie MoS was. Personally I think it's underrated.

But one thing that a lot of people complain about was that Superman killed Zod at the end, since Superman usually has a no killing rule and they thought it was out of character. Personally though, I just rewatched the movie and I really don't see what other option he had given the situation :yeshrug: it was justified IMO.

Should it have gone like that or do you think something else should've happened?

Supes was green as fukk in that movie. Dunno what else he could have done at that stage in the game
According to the detractors. When Zod said he wanted to hurt him and chose to fight in the city Superman should have flown away to lure Zod, despite the fact that Zod was not going to follow him and continue to wreck the city:skip:

No but not because of the usual reasons it’s because the pay off of him killing Zoe never happened
If we got a Superman who was weary of killing after that it would work but we got a Batman who kills, a Superman who kills mostly every enemy he comes across, and a bad sequel

Pretty much, he literally had no other way to stop Zod from killing people. It's not like the comics where he can just throw Zod back in the Phantom Zone.

Choke out Zod and put in in one of the suspended animation pods on the ship

Unless I’m wrong they never established that. That’s the problem.

Batman says in Begins he won’t kill the man, so it comes full circle with Ra

The movie establishes that Superman will help the helpless and will punish the jerk at the truck stop. So when he has a chance to help save people in Metropolis he doesn’t even if he fails(see Invincible tv show) but then punishes the bad guy and cries?

Zod was a literally few seconds away from murdering a group of civilians with his heat vision, Superman didn't have time to wait for him to lose consciousness.

He was literally in a situation where he had to choose Zod's life or theirs.

People who are upset with Zod being killed by Supes never read the comics, so they opinions do not matter. They are the same people that think the Killing Joke is Jokers origin story even though that story is not even cannon.

Didn’t he just have a fight where he tossed him through buildings, cornfields, and the air?

He lost the ability to move this dude?

We generalizing?

People who defend a lazy characterization were people who didn’t like the character until he does something in-Superman like.

I don’t know how anyone can watch the Invincible cartoon and not see exactly what was wrong with Man of Steel.

The cartoon ran circles around everything MOS thought it was doing
