Republican obstruction towards education/society, corporations unwilling to compete so they use their money and the laws to stifle competition or buy them out, anti-intellectualism on a mass scale, greed, lack of ethics/morality and human centered-thinking/philosophy, etc...

Bro they got these Waymo vehicles driving themselves all around in certain cities. You shytting on the robot vacuum, but I remember those hours I spent as a kid vacuuming like I can't wait till they create robots for this bullshyt. Same with the AI lawnmower. Some people dreamed about flying cars, all I wanted was robot vacuums and robot lawnmowers :sadcam:
I won't consider anything self driving until you can go to a dealership and purchase a fully functioning self driving one that operates 24/7 or at least 50% of the time with safety to all drivers on the road.

To be honest a big part of the concern my OP is the gap.

We got engineers who work on communication systems that use Electromagnetic waves and carrier signals beaming to and from satellites transferring data around the world.

Then you have a bunch of morons (the majority) who have voting power, many of which believe the Earth isn’t round.

It really sucks to be smart yet at the mercy of a growing number of dumb people voting because we could have much better. That’s all.

Read the thread title: the point isn’t that we don’t have great tech, it’s that despite all the crazy shyt we have there are a large large number of idiots out there who are stuck in the 1100’s.

Some folks missing the point :mjlol::heh:

Age of anti-intellectualism and a age where it's mainstream to have cult like thinking.

it was always there in the past just social media let that poison go unchecked usually those ways of thinking where confined to off shot white churches like Jehovah witness, Mormons and seventh day Adventist .
:snoop: mix that with capitalist greed

IWhat more innovations are you hoping to see from a smart phone? With the phone I can make transactions, control the climate in my house, control the lighting in my house, lock and unlock doors, instantly signal emergency services, clean my house, adjust settings on my refrigerator, do my taxes, pay my bills, send money to peers almost instantly, and if I wanted to I probably could get a car that I can completely control with it. That's on top of the easy access to AI and web services.
I can also do things like link into a pair of glasses and project a 60 inch screen video call from them as well as deploy web services from my job and give peer reviews to other peoples work. None of this shyt is perfected, but it's crazy to think about.
I don't think we need phones anymore at all. I kind of assumed it would all go the neuralink route or at least Google Glass but both concepts fizzled out.

Smartphones should honestly go the route of the pager. we kept the design way too long because of the megacorps Apple and Samsung.

To be honest smartphones haven't changed that much in 20 years. Yes we've had some screen resolution changes but that's it.
