I'm talkin straight horseshyt. How u gonna have 30 teams and only one team in the entire NBA (Houston) is under the cap???? :what: :wtf: :childplease:

And the most ridiculous thing is the MLE. That's cuz the MLE represents the average NBA salary. And say u had ur entire roster consisting of MLE salary type players? Given the MLE is like $5M and change, you'd be over the cap before u hit 12 players even. How is this sustainable when the cap goes up less than 2% each year it seems, but salaries/contacts mostly give players a 10% raise each year.

You gotta be McGyver just to get a deal done due to all the salary matching constraints.

Well, the salary cap isn't what you should be worried about. Starting this summer, the luxury tax is what you need to look for. Being over the cap is whatever, you can still sign MLE guys... but that luxury tax will be hurting teams

the CBA gave teams 2 years to get in accordance with the new rules. You probably going to see a lot of fire sales this summer though. And a good amount of niccas will get :bustback: (amnestied).

I think in the long run the CBA will be good for the NBA. Look at what it has already done to franchises value?? I think owners didn't go far enough, they have gone for an NFL-type salary structure. :smugdraper:

No fukks given about the franchise values if my team can't make moves due to punative luxury tax ramifications.

It's a soft cap, so in reality the more important number is the luxury tax level at 70m. 18 out of 30 teams (60%) are under this and most of the teams near 70m will make cap moves at the deadline to drop under it since repeat luxury tax offenders get penalized at a higher rate under the new CBA.

But, the owners won. They can essentially continue to suppress the salary cap, which suppresses the lux tax level, which suppresses max contracts (calculated as % of cap) and trickle down effects all other contracts.

Players taking paycuts to create super teams also helps owners as it consolidates high value players to thrifty contracts and minimizes the number of players reaching their full contract potential.

Owners feign year to year financial issues, yet team valuations continue to balloon top to bottom. Meanwhile players are taking paycuts on their own volition and through the new CBA as the Salary Cap basically hasn't moved in like 5 years.

Totally agree. I said from the jump before the lockout that NO NBA owner was losing bread.

with this new NBA cap -players like bron, durant, cp3, d12, melo etc... who will go down as alltime greats BUT will never make the money *excluding endorsements in some cases* as the previous stars who they are clearly better then ei. jermaine oneal, tmac, marbury, juwan howard, vince carter etc...

Been saying this for the longest. The true moneymakers in the sport fukked themselves by trying to form like voltron an shyt. No pity from me. They were in a true position of power and squandered it
