Get a sun conure or an african grey..or a parakeet if those are too rich for your blood. Lovebirds are also nice to have and relatively inexpensive
Cockatiels (the 2nd pic) can be very mean and macaws and other tropical birds of that nature are not good to own if its your first bird.

My parents have an African Grey. Ol' boy is a blast. Sings whenever he sees someone he recognises and says "Byyyyyyyyyye" whenever someone walks out the door.

They're exotic, luxurious animals. If you have a parrot it lets people know you're doing things. I would probably give away all my parrots if the price dropped to $200.

How much did it cost you? I've got two parakeets but I've been thinking about upgrading to a conurejust got a parrotlet, great pet. they will play with you and train pretty easily
