Manhattan which saw people flee due to Covid rebounds and now rent for the first time surpassed 5K a month.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
:mjtf: $60,000 a year just for rent not including other utilities

But hey!!!!!! I live in Manhattan :mjlol:
Born and raised New Yorker and I told my co workers the other day that I could never live in Manhattan because I have the exact same access to w/e they have:

I’m just trying to understand why do people pick Manhattan specifically? Jersey City is about to head towards the same direction cause now these Manhattan specific people are moving there now as well since it’s across the street and a short train ride away

You could pay mortgages on three to four houses in another state if you really wanted to.
I’ve had this convo with my co workers as well. One of them an asain finance director. According to her she doesn’t have a family and feels cozy. Another manager I spoke too actually has been looking to buy a luxury condo in Manhattan. He can’t cause competition is fierce and I’m sure in Manhattan he is competing against millionaires

Just to do the math. If someone make 10K a month net they could afford this apartment but would give up half their monthly salary while still keeping another 5K.

So 120K net salary is what in gross numbers in New York?

190K?

What’s crazy is that a salary like that is very common in midtown and lower Manhattan.

Always gotta calculate the salary when looking at these insane prices

I’m assuming the rich and wealthy especially the transplants wants to be close to the action , the parks, museums, and everything else..

Which they can easily just hop on a train from the other boroughs and jersey and do the same shyt

When you think about it, a lot of people use half their take home pay just on rent, and that is part of the problem.

Everyone I know who hasn’t bought yet is paying pretty much between 4-6k a month

I live in Manhattan (grew up here too). There’s a huge difference in my mind in terms of accessibility to what I like to do on a whim versus living in Jersey - regardless of the location being across the water.

Everyone who goes to Manhattan to live knows these prices inherently in that entire borough no where is cheap and everything is expensive. That's why they are leaving to queens and the bx and Brooklyn gentrifying the areas...:stopitslime: they JUST Need to live in the fukking city..
