Celtics Rumors: Boston Hasn't Contacted Marcus Smart, PG 'Hurt and Disgusted'

Marcus Smart is reportedly unhappy with the Boston Celtics for their lack of movement in contract talks.

Per Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald, a source close to Smart's camp said he is "hurt and disgusted" because the Celtics have yet to contact him with an offer.

Smart is a restricted free agent, though he hasn't generated much interest from anyone thus far.

Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports reported on June 25 that the Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls could be interested in Smart.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said on The Woj Pod that the market for restricted free agents this summer is "decimated" because teams have less money to spend after many of them splurged when the salary cap spiked in 2016.

The Celtics are $11.8 million over the 2018-19 salary cap with 13 players under contract, per Spotrac.

Smart, who was drafted No. 6 overall by Boston in 2014, averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 assists per game in 2017-18.

Danny Ainge a savage :scusthov: won't even talk to the boy, I'm not a Smart fan but he gives his all for his squad and I got a lot of respect for him. Dude's a real one, ride or die for his boys out there.

I heard LaVine is struggling to get offers too, RFA market is horrible right now because of all those bums who got big contracts a couple years ago :mjcry:

The point of being a RFA is for another team to make an offer and for your team to match. What is he crying about? He needs another offer to use as leverage. The league has spoken on his value. Players have gotta get it through their head that these front office people are not here to be friends. They will cut you, trade you, finesse you if they can.

Restricted Free Agency is tricky.. you dont wanna get into conversations that could up the costs. Marcus should be entertaining offers and then telling Boston "Im being offered this" and seeing if they match.... Boston is stacked.

I personally thought OKC should have manuevered for him for a year or two instead of Felton
