I suspected this movie might be in trouble when I couldn't tell who anybody was despite the fact that i'm familiar with most of the main chars due to seeing them in other shows like the ol justice league/united cartoon which i've probably re-watched over 10 times. I just don't get it, why do a live action version of something if you're going to stray so far from the source material that its unrecognizable. For fukk sake, I didn't even know black mask was even in this movie until recently because I never see McGregor wear the mask in the promo/trailers. Not sure why this movie is rejecting the use of pseudo-comic accurate costumes, especially since that's been one of the strong points about the DCEU.

Yea, this is what i was alluding to. I've read comics since the late 90s and watched all my justice league cartoons/movies... and i could not tell who any of these characters were other than Harley (of course) and black canary only because i knew they had race-bent her beforehand. It didn't even occur to me during the first trailer that the lil asian girl in the car with Harley was Cassandra f'ing Cain :heh:

So i thought it was a bad idea not to have more stand out dceu-ized costumes/depictions to market the other birds of prey (to avoid it looking like a "Harley and random group of girls" team), but then i figured hey if they're going completely left-field from the source material then shiiit, it is what it is; it's not like i'm some hardcore dinah or helena fan.

Who really knows why the interest from the general public wasn't as high (so far).

Watched it about an hour ago. The whole time I was like :unimpressed:. It's not a bad movie but it's not a great movie. Better than Suicide Squad though. It shouldn't have been called Birds of Prey but Harley Quinn and Friends. Pretty much everyone was wasted. I kept forgetting Huntress was even in the movie. Black Canary was forgettable except towards the end. Renee Montaya was totally forgettable but I guess they needed some familiar Gotham cop in the movie.

Black Mask is one of my favorite Batman villains and I think Ewan Mcgregor did a good job. I heard rumors of him being :dame: in the movie but it's not in your face but still :dame:. I don't like his ending though. :francis:

Also I don't understand how Harley Quinn, an escaped convict, is able to walk around in broad daylight without every cop in the city being after her. She's not just some bank robber, she's the girlfriend of one of the most dangerous men in Gotham.

Overall I'm giving the movie 6/10. I have no interest in seeing the movie again. :unimpressed:

Just watched the movie with my son, and I enjoyed the movie. DC is on a run right now in their Cinematic Universe. I prefer Marvel over DC is comics (I collect both) and in the Cinematic Universe I prefer DC over Marvel

If was fine but I kept asking myself "Where's Batgirl, Nightwing or Robin?" while Harley and Huntress are running wild in Gotham:comeon:
I can understand Batman not being in this but they should have linked Harley with someone from the Bat Family
Another thing that I noticed was none of the gangsters were worried about the Batman showing up:patrice:
I think Harley only mentioned him once but no one else, not even the cops:jbhmm:

Movie was ok, but I kept thinking that any of the events would have triggered The Batman showing up. Weird to have a movie in a universe he exist with no mention whatsoever.

This was my problem with the movie. Batman doesn’t need to be in it, but he’s the boogy man. He should be on everyone’s minds. Especially after that stunt Harley pulled blowing up a chemical plant with employees inside, and Huntress dropping bodies in the streets of Gotham. The last scene of the movie, should have been a close up of Harley enjoying her sandwich, and the Batmobile racing up in the background.

Or at least the Bat Signal in the sky at night. Harley seemed more worried about everyone except Batman.
