He did say on ā€œAll the Smokeā€ he was down money.

So this is him getting a significant cash infusion while retaining control of the team.

Did he say why he was down money?

Cuban is keeping 27% stake and as reported control over basketball operations.

Marc Stein:

Mark Cuban's sale of a majority stake in the Mavericks will be voted on at league level Wednesday and is expected to pass comfortably.

League sources tell The Stein Line that Cuban will emerge with a 27% ownership stake in the Mavericks while Las Vegas Sands Corp., which is buying out all of Cuban's previous minority partners, will seize 73% controlling interest.

As I've previously reported, Sands Corp. president and COO Patrick Dumont will be installed as the Mavericks' new governor, with Cuban shifting to alternate governor after nearly 24 years as the Mavericks' majority owner since striking a deal to buy the team from Ross Perot Jr. on Jan. 4, 2000, for $285 million.

Yet the unorthodox sale, remember, calls for Cuban to retain operational control of basketball endeavors for the foreseeable future. And his 27% minority stake is believed to be larger, just to name one example, than Joe Lacob’s controlling interest in the Golden State Warriors.

Did he say why he was down money?
Didn’t he just say he was down money specifically in regards to the companies he invested in on Shark Tank, not necessarily down money in the more general sense?

Cuban selling the Mavs to a huge financer of Trump & other conservative interests seems like it should be a bigger story - kinds flying under the radar. He sold 75% of the teams ownership

Did Cuban have 100% ownership? I thought he had partners. :jbhmm:
