Basically, stupid marketing strategies are stagnating the genre...There endless source of HIGH quality talent in rap music, but the current marketing strategies are impeding the development and promotion of the vast majority of this talent...
Rap Music needs to be marketed like Pornography to maximize talent, product and make it more enjoyable for the fan base...
(1) Rap Music SERIOUSLY needs to be categorized...The debate about what is "real rap" and what isn't SERIOUSLY fcuks up the game...
Compare it to porn...It is CLEARLY categorized...You have BBW, Model looking, Amateur and etc...This makes it subconsciously easier for fans to enjoy different forms of porn, and not waste time debating what is "real porn" and what isn't...
(2) Rap Music needs to stop this "there can only be one king" style of marketing...This creates arguments between fanbases, and everybody loses...The labels lose because fans of Rapper A feel like they should not support Rapper B...The fans lose because every aspiring rapper starts to think he has to clone "the one" to gain some attention, so the music starts to sound the same...
Compare it to Porn, porn doesn't use the "only one" marketing strategies...They try to maximize the attention that all their talent get...Dudes who like PAWG Porn, may also like BBW Porn and regular gorgeous girl porn...
There isn't this philosophy of "one girl is the ultimate pornstar"...In fact, porn companies are trying to make multiple girls from multiple genres of pron superstars, because they understand it creates a bigger market and diversity for consumers...
So, there is always as many new PAWGs possible, as new Hot BBWs as possible, as many new hot MILFs as possible...
(3) Rappers should not bound by a single label...The fans often fall in love and only make an effort to look for music coming from one camp...Therefore, other camps start biting and sounding the same to get some of that attention...
Most rappers should be allowed to work as independent contractors...Exclusive contracts should be discouraged, or if a rapper has an exclusive contract it should be easier for that rapper to fulfill his obligation, and continue being creative...
There is a lot of music that will never get hear because it is locked up in someone's safe...However, the biggest benefit to discourage exclusive contracts is because it puts more attention on the rapper and not necessarily a specific label/sound...
Compare it to porn, when dudes are searching for porn, they look for performers that turn them on, and they don't have any loyalty to any specific production label...This way, a lot more performers can get attention and it keeps things highly competitive, and instead of all being the same, performers and production labels are ALWAYS looking to set themselves a part...
