Marley Marl - In Control, Volume 1 Appreciation Thread

Marley Marl's production on this was innovative and all the emcees on this album did their thing. This one of the first if not the first time a producer had an album of his own and allowed other emcees to rhyme and showcase their talent:

The ones you posted are the best. But there's some stuff that was a letdown on that. Marley always did some weird shyt like putting dub versions on albums.

Freedom is one of my favorite songs. Shan killed that. Marley killed the beat.

Not on the album but Droppin Science (remix) is also so far ahead of it's time it's crazy. That's probably one of the first songs to ever really flip a jazz record. People were using funk and some soul but that's a jazz artist. Really crazy for the time. Just incredible. Marley is still my favorite producer.

Marley was like The RZA of his day. His take on production and sound was just amazing.

Yeah, Shan is one of my all time favorite emcees. Down By Law is such as a great album.
