At one point in your relationship did you realize that you wanted to get married? How long was the time between meeting your lady and proposing, and then how long from proposing to actually marrying, and once again, from being married to having children (for those of you who did it the "right" way :usure:)? For those who are still with your wife, do you miss the single life at all?

Just curious. A breh is 36 years old now, no kids, and kinda at the end of the rope with this single shyt.

She up and decided a gift i bought her was an engagement gift. Sat me down and debated with me why we should get married and how i technically already proposed to her. Ultimately we came to an agreement and we got married.

Do not get married because you tired of single life breh..

If you do it....leave love out of it. Be logical. Is this woman compatible with you? Similar values? Beliefs? Sex drives? Likes and dislikes? Can you be around her when you're not having sex?

Only do it if.yku can answer yes to these

Be careful, you might end up wifeying the wrong type of woman

Date a lot of women so you can find the woman you truly want

Dated my wife for 2 1/2 years then proposed to her. Got married a year after I proposed and been feeling like it was the best decision I've made ever since. Do I miss being single? Not at all because, I could still do the same shyt I was doing before if wanted (outside of new ass). But I actually enjoy my wife company and we do alot together. Not because I feel obligated but because I enjoy being with her.

I wanted to get married bc I lost a ton of money on some investments and her parents said they would buy us a house as a gift and give me a "loan" to buy up some rental properties if we got married

Best business move I ever made. Although what's funny is I was completely against marriage and she would always bug me about it for years. We were together for almost 7 years before we did it. Marriage is great and I don't miss the dating life at all because I'm lazy as shyt and just want to chill at the crib. She's a good wife and we get along really well so I have no regrets. It helps alot we waited a long time before marriage and worked out every major problem we had.

Dated for 1.5 years. Engaged for 12 months. Waited 8 years to have kids.

We just clicked, and so did our families. Once the thought of marriage crossed my mind, I took a list of the most popular reasons for couples getting divorced and we hashed out all the scenarios. Here are a few questions we actually discussed:

1. How will we manage our money as a couple?
2. My brother needs $5k to start a business, do we loan him the money? And Why/Not?
3. When do you want to have kids? How many?
4. Do you believe in spanking?
5. What role will our parents and siblings have in major decisions in our marriage?
6. How important is sex to the relationship?
*7. What is the ideal frequency for sex and what to do if one is not happy about sex?

We didn't discuss #7 but every couple should before marriage.

Those are great questions. Can you please post all the other questions you discussed with each other?

I realized it was time to make it official after I got her pregnant. I was 21 and she was 18. Her family is from the Caribbean and were immediately like when is the wedding, lol. Five children and (it's going to be) 20 years later (this August) we are still going strong.
Its been 20 years and we still prefer each other's company and still do a lot of things together.

Before I got her pregnant we were kicking it every day and then we got an apartment together. My pull out game is wack as hell so even though I was too dumb to realize it back then, as soon as we got our own place it was set in stone that I was going to get her pregnant.

Best decision I ever made Bro. She's smart and beautiful.

I don't know what these dudes that complain about women are talking about. Its not rocket science. All of the females I dated leading up to my wife were on point and wife material, not counting the 6 or 7 that were just jump offs and never taken seriously.

If you got a female that has her head on straight, no serious issues, looks good, AND you enjoy spending time with her then you have a potential wife. It kinda sucks being single, especially as you get older. After dating someone six months, meeting her parents and family, and asking the right questions you should know off bat if she could be your wife. Its not that complicated.

No way in hell I would want to be 42 and single with no children or have children out of wedlock. That shyt would be depressing Bro. That makes me think how glad I am now we started our family early. Me and the Mrs are heading to Miami to enjoy each other and the children are old enough to be left home. That's after taking family trips together cross country and to Myrtle Beach and Florida this summer.

Bro I would switch the approach to seeking a wife. I wouldn't even waste time with dating anyone if they weren't wife material. You don't wanna be all old with a bad back and shyt with little children. Don't wait too long if starting a family is something you want. We do stuff all the time with the children as far as playing sports, camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming at the beach, etc. Ideally you want to be able to have fun and enjoy your tribe while you are young and have the energy. The older you get you will probably hit a whole different vibe.

I am 36 with no wife or kids. I want a wife and kids. At what age will it be too old for that in your opinion?

Breh, that was over 20 years ago. Essentially, we discussed Sex, Money, and Family related questions. We focused more on money and family. It was about hashing out our ideas and opinions on the subjects and coming to an agreement. We wanted each other to be fully honest. It only got heated when my girlfriend at the time said she didn't want to take my last name. When it became apparent that was deal breaker status for me, she conceded. Again, sex should have been a discussed more but we were young and naive.

Don't get me wrong. There is no age that is too old. I mean, technically men can impregnate as long as you can get it up. I know a brother in his 70s with a teenager and he's happy.

As long as you are working on your health you shouldn't have to worry about being too old.
BUT for most people once you start reaching my age (42) you are pushing it as far as starting a family.

PAUSE..... After 20 years together, how is the sex? How often do you do it? Do you still enjoy it after 20 years with the same person?
