Grounds for comparison:
- Both official sophomore solo efforts
- Both were released in 2000
- Both are considered great lyricists within the genre.
- There are about an even amount of actual songs, which makes good for track for track comparisons.
I kinda make it a habit to revisit and sit with older albums at least once a month. I'll look through my CD's or storage drives and just pick one at random and rock with it, or at least see how long I can. I was recently doing this SC and I can't really say it's striking me as some sort of landmark, classic album although it gets ranked that way by some. I see similar arguments for/against MMLP as well so I figured I'd do a little track by track play through.
As I stated they almost have the same amount of songs if you include "The kids" as a bonus, so I went ahead and threw that on there, left out the skits and let the songs ride track for track.
1. Kill you = Nutmeg (love both songs for different reasons, can't pick)
2. Stan > One
3. Who Knew > Saturday Nite
4. The way I am > Ghost Deni
5. The real slim shady < Apollo kids
6. Remember me > The grain
7. Im back < buck 50
8. Marshall Mathers = Mighty healthy
9. Drug ballad = Stay true
10. Ammityville < We made it (love both of these records, bizzare's verse gives ghost advantage here)
11. bytch please 2 < Stroke of death
12. Kim > Malcom
13. Under the influence < Childs play
14. Criminal > cherechez la ghost
15. The kids < Wu banga 101
This is of course all up for debate but on the low this is really an appreciation thread for two albums that have made their way back into rotation for me.
Sticky on this
I could play this shyt 20 times without wanting to switch tracks....Rza
