Indeed. It's crazy how younger people are seeming to forget
it's crazy how in 51yrs a lot has changed but still stays the same. We gained more freedom and rights in this country, but still deal with disproportionate arrest rates and more severe sentencing. Racism is still ramped it's just hidden better. The racist lurk on the internet waiting for opportunities to expose their ignorance, that they wouldn't in public. It's also crazy how irreverent and ungrateful we've become as well. We're I work we're all black in my department with a couple Puerto Ricans. These guys in my office thought those MLK Day club flyers were the the funniest thing ever. I was like that ain't funny and one of my coworkers was like "f*** that nikka" referring the MLK I was like

I'm kinda like fukk that nikka too
Now, not for what he did for ALL PEOPLE. I just think maybe, just maybe his impact is overrated a lil bit
(let me finish)
I grew up in a way that I sort of fancy myself as a MLK kinda guy. His ideals, not his work
And for the most part, I agree with it all. But I started to question some thangs.
For one, exactly what you said about how we gained more freedom and rights but still
And thats where MLK not only fell short, he never was gonna get to that promised land with or without us
As some of you may know, I was at a Trayvon Martin Rally. Posted some really cool videos in KTL showing myself and my family marching down streets in Washington DC.
Felt good at the time. Felt like I was doing some real work. Could be proud, my kids could say they marched
Seems nice right. But I knew something wasn't right. You see, when Trayvon first was killed?
The Grassroots as ppl like to call them was doing this
Ok, so they was going extra hard in that 2nd video. What does this have to do with MLK you might be thinking but bare with me. I'm about to tie it all up, and when I'm done. Not even MLK will look good in the aftermath
Malcolm X disliked MLK because he felt overall his cause was crooked. He breaks it down here
The whole thing is a great listen, but he goes in on MLK starting from the 17min mark
Peep that PLEASE.
So after seeing this, it made me think. What was I really doing out there at that rally?
And how is Al Sharpton NOT DOING THE EXACT SAME THING NOW
They eve gave him a show on a national news network that wouldn't give that nikka the time of day if he asked a few years ago. The brothaz walked in with guns.. walked out with jobs
The brothaz wasn't high anymore... hahahaaaaaa
in their times the speeches and marches made more impact but the advance in media and technology has allowed an instant skew in public perception or deflection of issues. Now I don't think it is possible to have a black leader with nearly the same impact, the talking is over
As for Sharpton
he's just a puppet for the Democratic Party anytime he can say the Gays plight in America is equal to the plight of Blacks in America you know he's just out to further his own political power.
