I agree - this generation is different & the future looks spooky. This is basically why I don’t think you can wholly blame music for how tapped a lot of them are & also why I don’t get involved in that argument. TikTok influenced this madness & it shows people will always find inspiration from somewhere to commit crime.

We’re now seeing the 80s babies as parents, half them man were cooked in their own way.

Then you’ve got the growing apathy from everyone under 35 that seems to just be growing. AI and Automation gonna make it harder for these kids to get entry level jobs.

You inadvertently hit the nail on the head. In 2007 they shut down a lot of the youth centres, now they are hardly any. When they first started shutting them down knife crime soared, and now with hardly any youth clubs (plus kids now a days wouldnt wanna go anyway) kids are just idling with a lack of govt funded youth activity. The children who would benefit most from youth clubs are those in lower socioeconomic neighbourhoods.

Facts.

Yes, music does contribute its quota with its subconscious programming. However, there are other things involved. So arguing against music alone is a simplistic/lazy way of diagnosing the problem.

Then you have technology that keeps fostering ‘groupthink’ (cos the number likes & impressions generated are the coolest things these days) thus enabling the type of mob action this thread is about. I’d even wager that those involved most likely didn’t think they were doing anything wrong as it’s going to be a trending topic. It’s also the culture that created the Mizzy yute.

Also, can you wholly bland parenting based on what society is today? You can’t even breathe on your kid these day without social service knocking on your door. And there’s only so much parents can do when you have to spare the rod. Tough love doesn’t exist anymore as a tool for parenting.

Ngl, I don’t really watch the ballys during summer thing cos I know mandem used to wear black military jackets & hoodies during summer in my era. And the generation before us used to wear dem long trench coats. But I get your point tho.

I don’t want to be a pessimist & I think they will adjust as long as they’re IT savvy. That’s one of our greatest gifts as humans - we have a natural tendency to adjust. The ones amongst them that will most likely be affected are those who refuse to take education seriously cos AI/Automation might endanger low level jobs.
