Peele - I think Get Out was somewhat overrated but US sealed the deal.

Was not enthused about Heriditary. Midsommar was different, the fear factor was there and the storyline was good in unexpected ways but I think they went o.d. With the artsy vibe. Midsommar was a much better watch than Hereditary . Cinematography in Midsommar was outstanding. I’m going with Peele bc his movies are more engaging . I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with Candyman .

I'm choosing Peele for the same reason I chose Romero.

My vote goes to Aster. Hereditary hit my real world deepest fears in a way that almost no movie has in history. That ish made me aware of concerns that I had subconsciously but hadn't actually faced consciously or openly before. But on the comparison...

I think Peele is hitting social commentary with his horror movies in a way that's untouchable among his modern peers. The man just has an incredible way of giving people a window into views that they might have been completely detached from. Aster is more self-contained. I feel like Get Out can be relatable to a LOT of people who have felt like outsiders; Hereditary felt to me like a movie that would have a deeper impact on people who have mental illness running in their family specifically (and I've had discussions with others that had a similar sentiment which boosted my feeling here).

I haven’t seen Midsommar yet. Actually plan on watching it tonight or tomorrow and I’ll make an informed vote then. As of now I’m leaning towards peele but again it’s not fully informed. I love get out and Us but hereditary got under my damn skin because my worst fear is being set up from jump. That whole family was fukked before the credits rolled
