Maybe it's me but Black History Month ends today and it's almost like it was cancelled this year.

For the record I don't believe a single month should be designated to celebrate Black history, the same way I don't think you need Valentine's day to express your love to someone special. It's sad that it takes recognized holidays or designated days or a designated month to take seriously things momentarily when the placed importance on these matters should be the norm.

Still though, this year's Black History Month seemed noticeably non-existent for some reason. Anybody else notice that? Hardly anything in the media. Maybe the K-12 schools participated in your area?

might as well change it to LBGT and black women history month. This is what happens when we have a bunch of blacks raised in white suburbs representing us in the media. They have respect for our culture or history they just want extra honey on their butter biscuits.

There were plenty of articles written about various figures that are lesser known. I saw an IGN article about the Black man being the first to create the game cartridge. Various YouTube channels made Black History Month type content. Kevin Hart dropped a Black History Month special on Netflix. A bunch of TV shows created a Black History Month Episode.

I mean what else do you expect during Black History Month? It never was like an "OMG it's Black History Month" thing. Black History Month is not a holiday. It's a month to learn about Black figures in history. It's mostly a month of for educators to talk about Black history in school, the whole purpose was to create public awareness about Black historical figures and facts and it has done that every year. So your math teacher can bring up Black mathematicians. Science teacher can talk about Black scientists. It's not Cinco de Mayo.
