a few things:
from what i know about boxing (which is admitedly not that much), i think Mayweather would beat Pacquiao. I don't think he's ducking cause he feels he can't beat him. I just think the math doesn't favor the fight. why would he take that fight when he could take easier fights, risk a lot less (health wise as well as title wise) and STILL get paid roughly the same? He figured out that it's all about the story and if he can hype up the fight enough, he'll get paid either way. Truth be told, he will probably end up fighting Pac for his last fight and his biggest pay day if it's still relevant by then.
business wise, what floyd is doing makes perfect sense. his problem is that he wants the money and the props at the same time. his ego is not satisfied with just the money (especially since he truly believes he could take Pac and feels like everyone should know that as well). what's really killing him IMO is that he can't just come out and explain all this plainly because then he won't be able to deny he's just a cynical businessman. he's neither and he's both. both the pragmatic businessman and the prideful gifted technical boxer.
as far as this exchange, this is just him being frustrated with these realities. breaking it down logically to the radio would be bad for business. so naturally he has no options. most people get very emotional when they are left with no options and cornered. what floyd needs to do is learn how to detach himself from what people think of him. he needs to figure out what he wants ( money? props? and if he wants both he needs to figure out in what proportions). once he's decided that he needs to be at peace with his decision regardless of what people think of him.
