It's really because the product sucks to a point where most of the items they sell aren't worth the price or lethargy/sickness you feel after eating them..... People are opting for home cooking or just other options in general

All these companies are the same. Instead of asking why lower and middle-income people aren't eating out as much, they blame "economic uncertainty" or say people are just "skipping meals" when people are just making choices based on what they can actually afford.
They keep raising prices to chase an unsustainable growth model that prioritizes shareholders over the customers they depend on, and then act surprised when sales drop. This is what happens when your entire model is built around infinite growth and infinite profit. They even admit that high-income consumers are still spending at stable levels, and instead of looking at how their pricing and strategy are turning people away, they pretend the problem is just consumer mood. Well, a $10+ fast food combo isn't "value" anymore, it's a luxury for some families.
The crazy thing is, this isn't even about being unprofitable, it's just about missing sales growth expectations. And even then, they're still planning to open 2,200 new restaurants.

Competition is the reason. Everything McDonald's sells, someone else pretty much does it better. Even fries now are no longer the unquestionavke GOAT.
Their burgers were ALWAYS TRASH. EVERY place has a better burger. Nuggets? Okay they're still good but thry don't hit they used to and Chick fil a nuggets are suprr popular, even Wendy's nuggets are really good.
Their chicken sandwich is also TRASH.
Maybe their breakfast is the only thing they can hang their hat on at this point. Maybe.
