Wade had plenty of hype. Averaged 20+ at Marquette and led them to a Final Four. Also keep in mind he got drafted 5th in arguably the greatest draft class of all time. 3 of the 4 dudes that got drafted ahead of him are future hall of famers (Lebron, Melo, Bosh).

He still had 19 that game against a stacked Kansas team. Marquette had no chance against them. Keep in mind the game before that he had 30 against a Kentucky team that was the favorite to win it that year. The tournament boosted his stock something crazy. He was borderline lotto before that.
