Yeah I agree. I for one have never believed in "progess" being linear and unlimited. It's only this current western arrogance that fooled many people that we had somehow broken this recurrent cycle of ups and downs.

Thinking any other way is a privilege only available to the wealthy and infinite. We're always a generation away from reversing progress. If you have families that escaped/lived through a civil war then you definitely understand this.
