Those who have been following the news know that Flint, Mich. is in crisis. The city’s residents are up in arms about the corrosive, lead-filled water in their sinks, and a state of emergency has been declared. (Michigan Governor Rick Snyder was contrite in his State of the State address, saying that he and the rest of the government apparatus had failed its citizens.) Fortunately, there have been humanitarian efforts to help local residents; it now looks as if Meek Mill has added his voice and checkbook to the fight.

According to TMZ, the Philadelphia native has donated some 60,000 bottles of fresh water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, as well as a giving money to the Flint Child and Family Health Development Fund. Meek’s camp apparently told the outlet that the donations have nothing to do with the court-ordered community service the rapper is carrying out stemming from his most recent parole violation.

Earlier this month, Meek challenged the Queens superstar 50 Cent, with whom he’s currently embroiled in a beef, to match his donations to the people in Flint.

Their dispute can be traced to 4/4, the surprise EP on which Meek disses both 50 and his 2015 sparring partner, Drake. The four-song set marks his first collection of new music since Dreams Worth More Than Money, his sophomore album that topped the Billboard charts when it was released last summer.
