Well, you're going up against a hit-making machine. Drake just did what he does best -- making hits. He just had the sense of mind to make the diss a banger so he knew it'd catch plays everywhere.
The ONLY way you're going to beat Drake is to outdo him at his own game. Meek went directly, didn't hit. Joe Budden dropped MULTIPLE potent disses... didn't respond.
Drake isn't untouchable. He just plays to his strengths extremely well and relies on the value of the product he delivers to grant him a safety net. This is why the world as a whole didn't care about the ghostwriting accusations -- he's dropped so many hits that resonated with the people that everyone else overlooked it. They didn't care, as long as he kept putting out music that they enjoyed, it didn't matter to them how it was made or where it came from.
Had Meek dropped 4/4 within 48 hours, a lot of things could've changed. Back to Back was left on its own for way too long without a worthy response to counter it, and that's why it did the damage it did.
