Wow I went to Grambling and this is crazy.

There are plenty of Black Americans teens who play baseball and they are going out of the way to not pick up these Black American players and reward them with scholarships.

I was suitemates with some baseball cats at ASU. Those were some wild, funny nikkas they had some of the baddest women at their team parties

I stopped paying attention to Bama State baseball after some down years. Nice to see them back up

Jackson State started the trend of SWAC schools recruiting the Caribbean, South and Central America for potential players a while back. I see we’re utilizing that strategy

Jackson State, Bama State, FAMU & Cookman recruit Latin American players at a higher rate than other HBCUs. ASU been giving and will continue to give black boys scholarships. Some Latin players on the baseball team does not erase or dim the history & mission of Alabama State University of educating black students and giving us a place to call our own.

Congrats to ASU. I posted the story in a thread about MLB actively recruiting AA talent the past 30 years. Including pipeline programs for players and management at HBCUs.

Interesting takes in the thread from alumni and others about whether those efforts will work.

We didn’t have suites when I was there & it was only 2-5 non black baseball players. They were the most chill & cool out of all the athletes. I stayed in Boys Benson behind the girls Tower & they used to help us throw water balloons at girls from 7 floors up & prank nikkas on the elevators by opening the elevator doors on floors above where it was running and it made it jump & stop

Golf team was lit though them white boys was doing PWI shyt at our HBCU. They’d dress up in costumes bring some disrespectful ass signs to basketball games

I started off in Card hall and while we had our shenanigans, them Benson nikkas were different
I started when they still had the sweat box and was there long enough to see it turned it into the new cafe. Them kids spoiled now, the campus looks amazing I came from a era where the pizza man only delivered to the campus police station because cats were

I used to be heated when I ordered Chinese and I had to walk from benson to the fukkin police station. I ain’t been on campus in a while I may go check a game out this season

Black people are at the bottom of every economic statistic around, especially the Black people who went to college. Those scholarships should go to Black people (FBA), Hispanics/Latinos need to stop leeching off the backs of Black people, especially when the majority of them have Anti-Black views.
