I'm starting to see the Jay-Z/snake angle.

I'm hearing he tried to do the same thing with 21 Savage and his little label after the deportation thing.

Then, a lot of his help was trying get Wayne outta CM.
If she signed to they management then it’s they job to point out where the label is fukking them. I’m sure roc nation ain’t pushing her to sign with them. They don’t really sign many artist. But if you in a fukked up contract which most artist are it’s they job to tell you lol.

Akademiks made a great point roc nation are just out here trying to poach artists, they manage her and uzi, who went through the same drama
or idk maybe they doing they job and trying to get they artist a fair deal. They are managing the artist, this they job to see read contracts and to make sure they ain’t getting messed over. They not looking for them artist to sign to them lol. They barely sign artist in general

I think you are confusing the label being independent with the ARTIST THAT'S SIGNED to said label.

Y'all really don't see the forest because of trees ffs :snoop:

Independent isn't just a fancy word that's being thrown around. It means being your own boss! Having the liberty to do as you please. When you are crying that the boss is being mean, that's not independence ffs. You might think you're independent but when you ask mommy for 5$ to go out with the boys, your independence goes out the window.
Being signed to a independent label means there is no big money and machine behind you. No label cutting big checks for your day to day. The artist has to get out and grind themselves to make moves and relationships. But said label does have control when they choose to use it.

you sound silly with your $5 analogy. I can pay all my bills and my mommas bills and need $5 one day. That don’t mean I’m not independent.

I'm saying the standard recording contract is always gonna be grossly in favor of the label. That's just how it goes in any business negotiation.

Think about it. The label is the one who is fronting the cost of wardrobe, videos, studio time, features, etc. The label has to be compensated out of the artist's cut. How else will they get a return on their investment?

That's why it pays to come into a negotiation where you have leverage where you agree to pay for alot of that out of your pocket. That's so you don't owe the label as much. The more you do for yourself, the more of the pie you can get.

1501 invested 8 figures into her to make her pop. She signed the contract and apparently didn't put up much of her own bread, especially in relation to what 1501 spent. Her bigger issue is that she allowed her 1501 projects to be labeled as "mixtapes" instead of an "album." They didn't count towards her 4 album deal.

Sadly, the only people she can really blame is her and her mom for not knowing how the business works.

Do you understand how expensive it it to break a new artist, especially a female one?

Keep in mind Carl was green to alotta stuff, so he was spending top dollar on evertything. Even Slim Thug was like"yeah I saw y'all spend a bag over there. New artists, don't expect me to spend that if you sign with me:umad:."

In the above interview, around 23:00 is where Carl explains how get got "done dirty." He says he understands re-negotiating, but he explains how Megan got with Roc Nation to cut him out of the equation.

At 10:20 of this, Wayno breaks downs exactly why Megan is in the wrong and how Roc Nation is basically interfering with 1501. Very good listen.

Because if she got out of that deal, guess what record label would come calling to offer their services to her?

they may not sign many artists, but they may want her.
Don’t think they wanna sign many people. Especially high maintenance women that you have to do a lot of work with. They manager her and pointed out she was getting raped. They did they job to show they truly value her.
