when it comes down to it, phil just wanted to go where the biggest payday was while doing the least amount of work (and not have to coach). and that was the knicks by far.

So now we dumping on Phil's legacy for winning. Phil would not have come to NY he didn't have a clear plan that would work.

If it was only about the money, Melo would've been a Knick before Lebron was a Cav. Knicks offered that max contract early. Bulls org is cheap when they should be trying to spend in order to win. Plus Rose has played less games than Amar'e over the past two seasons :damn:

phil came for money. he had no interest in coaching due to his health, so he wanted to go wherever he could get paid and sit up stairs and play the big boss role.

And i like Melo, it was def about the money or he'd be playing in Chigago,

the Knicks might be a 7-8 seed but they are not making any real noise in the East.

While I Do Think Money Was A Factor In His Decision, Had There Been No Phil Jackson There To Talk To Him And Rest His Mind On The Future, Max Or No Max Melo Would'a Been Gone

Yup, and Dolan knew this. That's exactly why he brought Phil in. Jim is always ready to make the big moves and many of them are the right ones. 'Melo also wanted to play with the good pieces that NY has. At the 4:10 mark of the video below, he said “I'm not at a point in my career where I wanna rebuild. If we can work with the pieces that we have, and Phil bring his knowledge of running a basketball program/organization to this, then we can have a lot to talk about”:

They won't even acknowledge the fact that it was bad business to bring taj into a meeting knowing that they would most likely need to get rid of taj to sign Melo to the 4 year max

I think you would be better off if you stop debating with them. They're twisting the fact that it would have been foolish for him to take a minimum of a $40M for any reason. No one would do that because it's stupid. Especially when Chiraq's center pieces are coming off of injury, are injury prone, have serious injury problems (knees and a big man with feet issues, and possibly knee issues), the franchise player was unwilling to recruit and had to be drug to the meeting as if he doesn't need to recruit even though he's not been healthy for the last 3 years, a front office in disarray and who didn't make 'Melo a good offer, etc.

If 'Melo had come there, he'd be the only offense they have because Rose played like trash this season when he came off of injury. 'Melo just went through that with Swish. 'Melo already came off of a coach who ran him in the ground; no need to repeat that. The media is just hyping Chiraq to criticize 'Melo. Lj went to a horrid situation just to go home to the team he abandoned and he's only been worshipped for it. 'Melo went home to Phil, imminent cap space, an owner who is always willing to spend, and $124M.

You forget chandler got hurt ?

No, he didn't forget. He didn't forget that Swish was coming off of injury, K-Mart missed most of the season, Felton played like trash, Pable missed a lot of games, etc. He's just aggy.

Are you referring to the stint where we won a bunch of games at the end there? because before that we were hurt but had Bargnani playing healthy
