Corporatism, cronyism and other things are part of the problem.
Socialism, by far, is not one of them.

This 1% a$$hole who thinks people are against capitalism mis-represent the problem.
And trying to troll by interviewing a random OWS protester on the street doesn't prove any more than interviewing the average dipshyt at a Long Island Trump rally.

OWS wasn't about capitalism. It was about income inequality.
It is possible to have a capitalist system with socialist aspects. And certain things should not be up to the profit motive for a variety of reasons....like prisons, healthcare and the news.
Instead we have an oligarchy.

Reason.tv and their libertarian slant is just 1 step up from the low brow un-nuanced crap you see on Fox News.

Libertarians are the dumbest motherfukkers on this planet - it's essentially feudalism & only benefits the very rich

believe that the magical market will fix itself when wages have been stagnant for the past 30 years and yet productivity has gone up:laff:

This smug milionaire is really talking down to poor people on some "taxation is theft" shyt trying to act as if he's on some sort of moral high ground - NOPE. Objectivism is literally the dumbest philosophy ever and Ayn Rand is a fukking hack.

Slavery was a product of pure capitalism.

Pure capitalism creates syndicates and monopolies, robber barons, and concentrates power the hands of few people.

Some regulation is necessary.

Slavery = capitalism. It may not be obvious, it may not be even obvious in your own country, but there is someway somehow a person who has no choice but to go to work to make ends meet, either willingly or by force. That doesn't happen in a society where you own your own land and source of food. If you want to keep capitalists honest you have to remove the following:

1) Dependency

2) Envy

If you don't depend on anybody for shelter, food, or clothing, then whatever they are producing has to be truly valuable for you to invest. If you don't envy what the next man has then you are not going to do something foolish like mortgage your assets to get it.

my argument against libertarianism is that what we currently have (corporatism) is inevitable. eventually after generations of passing on wealth, the group of people who have the money will hoard it more and more to the point where they have the power to influence elections by financing political campaigns, financing the media, etc. and once you have that power you pretty much affect policy and the language of the laws. of course they are going to use that power to benefit even more. so you end up right where we are right now. this is not really an argument against capitalism because i don't have another option to offer. i just think capitalism is our default mode as human beings. it's part of our DNA. Communism is what we aspire to be in a perfect world but capitalism is what defines us at the core. it's the animal in us.
